Welcome!

Our Five Core Values

  • Friendship, which brings us together and is the basis of our brotherhood.
  • Knowledge, the primary reason our members attend college and the key to a fuller, richer life.
  • Service, in recognition of our obligation to give back to the campus and community that foster our growth.
  • Morality, our commitment to do what is right in all our relationships.
  • Excellence, the achievement of the full potential of the chapter and the individual members.

The fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, commonly referred to by the adopted nickname FIJI, is a well reputed organization in both the U.S. and Canada that is currently comprised of 121 undergraduate chapters and 17 delta colonies. There have been 162,000+ initiated brothers since it's founding in 1848. Notable members range from president Calvin Coolidge to author Jack Kerouac, and with countless others in between.

First founded at the University of Colorado in 1912, FIJI has long had a strong presence in Boulder. Famous local brothers from CU Boulder include Byron White (Hall of Fame football player and Supreme Court Justice), George Norlin (namesake of Norlin Library and Quad on campus), and astronaut John Swagert (perhaps you've heard his quote "Houston, I think we've got a problem").  Phi Gamma Delta returned to CU most recently in November 2009, and is quickly reestablishing its strong position.

FIJI is founded upon its five core values: friendship, knowledge, service, morality, and excellence. The primary reason that we are all here is scholarship, so going along with this FIJI is proud to boast a GPA above CU's All-men average, a faculty scholarship advisor, a study room within the chapter house, and even a $250 scholarship automatically granted to anyone who gets over a 3.0 during their pledge semester. FIJI men also pride themselves on giving back to the community, with over $30 per brother raised for various philanthropies last semester alone.

The most basic purpose of a fraternity though is brotherhood. FIJI engages is many fun brotherhood events from lazer tag in suits to road trips to visit other chapters. This brotherhood doesn't end at graduation though, as a FIJI is “not for college days alone”. In the end, FIJI is set apart by its unique combination of old and new. With our great history around the nation and at CU itself, we have an incredibly strong tradition resting as our foundation. As recently returning to campus, though, we offer new members a chance to distinguish themselves and create something great- leaving their mark for generations to come.
